Can I use dog flea treatment on my cat?

Never. Many dog flea products contain permethrin, which is highly toxic to cats even in tiny amounts. Cats can also be poisoned by rubbing against, or sleeping next to, a dog that was recently treated.

Use only products made for cats, and keep cats away from treated dogs as the label directs. If you have used a dog product on your cat, or they are twitching, trembling or unsteady, see a vet immediately.
